Our beloved City of Calgary, under the reign of Mayor Nenshi has done the unthinkable! They have allowed the Calgary Airport to destroy our lives! Since the City of Calgary gave permission to the Airport to expand within the city instead of making them move far outside the city, multiple districts have been negatively affected on multiple levels by the noise pollution overhead.

1. Our Rights to peace and quiet in our own homes have been violated! Many districts cannot keep their windows open due to the constant loud drone of airplanes 24 hours a day 365 days a year! Our homes, our sanctuaries to escape from our day-to-day grind, have been destroyed! We can no longer lie back in our recliners and enjoy some peace & quiet to unwind. Instead, we are constantly on edge with a "nails-on-the-chalkboard" atmosphere within our own homes. We are prisoners both in and outside of our own homes because of the noise pollution!
 
a) We cannot sit down and enjoy a peaceful family dinner with the windows open for fresh air due to the noise pollution. Conversation is absolutely out of the question if any window is open.

b) We cannot sleep leaving our windows open during hot nights because of the incessant loud drone of airplanes. Even with the windows closed, the noise pollution is so great as to wake us up from our sleep on many occasions.

c) We cannot sit outside in our backyards and enjoy a sunny day in lawnchairs and sip on a cool drink because of the drone of planes. BBQ gatherings are disrupted by the roar of planes overhead every few minutes, leaving us with broken conversations constantly.

d) We cannot watch television without having to turn the volume up excessively to be able to hear anything over the drone of planes. Forget about enjoying a movie at home after the kids are asleep because the excessive volume of the television to drown out the airplanes would wake the children.

2. The Value of our Properties has been severely damaged due to the air traffic pollution. The City helped the victims of flood; what about the victims of their decision to let the airport expand instead of making the airport move? Our property taxes keep going up even though our VALUE has been devastated by the noise pollution.

People of Calgary; Citizens who have been violated, we need to BAND TOGETHER and demand retribution. We need to demand that The City of Calgary MOVE the airport far outside the city NOW!!! We've suffered long enough and it needs to stop! Let's stand up for our RIGHTS to live in peace & quiet!!!

We need to BRAINSTORM people and devise a plan of action immediately against this serious violation of our rights! Who's with us?
